About Borderline Personality Disorder
What do you know about Borderline Personality Disorder? Have you heard about it before? Before my diagnosis, I’d heard about it, but didn’t really know anything about it. This week aims to change that. Join us and special guests as we delve into the realms of Borderline Personality Disorder – or BPD, as it is known – to find out what it is, what it means and how we cope and live with it. Find out more about my experiences of this new chapter and what this diagnosis means for me. Find out how others live with it – either personally or through a partner – and what it means to them. Sarah Cardwell is a new blogger having recently been diagnosed with Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder/ Borderline Personality Disorder in January 2018. She has been under a mental health team since 1998. She is firstly a mother to her two daughters & wife to her husband. Family matters most to Sarah as not only did she lose her mother-in-law in 2009, her father-in-law in 2010, her own mother in 2015 & lost her best friend who took her own life in 2016. Sarah really struggled to know how deal with these emotions & bereavements. She loves her job as an Executive Assistant at Good Things Foundation, http://www.goodthingsfoundation.org a social & digital inclusion charity. You can read more of Sarah’s blogs on Mental health, borderline personality disorder, anxiety, ovarian cancer, family life & her work at http://sarahsthinkingagain.blog.
Brittany Ryan is a social media marketer and soon to be graphic designer. After having symptoms since she was 8 years old, she was finally diagnosed with BPD in January 2017 at the age of 26. She shares her experiences with BPD on her blog, https://borderlinecoffeecurvesblog.com . Knowing there is a heavy stigma around BPD, she likes to be very open about her experiences and feelings in her blog so that way others know that they are not alone in their illness. Everyone’s feelings are valid.
A returning guest poster, Ara is a young author who lives in Dorset with her partner. She works for a large corporation by day and writes in her spare time. Previous to that, however, she worked as a carer for people with mental health problems and dementia for 4 years. Originally from Essex, she moved to Wolverhampton for university, where she studied English and Creative Writing. That was also where she met Alex and began supporting him with his mental health struggles as he battled with his depression, anxiety and eventually with his self-harm and Borderline Personality Disorder.
