Episode 36 – Dealing With Disapproval

It doesn’t seem to matter how hard we try, there are still people who will disapprove of what we’re doing.  Whether it’s been thought through brilliantly, made with everyone in mind, there are still people who will disapprove.  Often it can feel worse with depression or other mental health disorders, but how do we deal with that?

Episode 35 – A Protective Factor

Following the suicide of Amy Nice, 21, I look at the benefits system, the care she received and the responsibility that should be taken.  I examine the “protective factor” that medical staff identify and reveal why I believe it is a load of rubbish.  Why not join me?

Episode 34 – Medication Mentalities

Medication vs therapy vs other approaches…it’s an age-old debate nowadays.  Plenty of people take medication, plenty say therapy helped them, plenty say that you should never touch medication.  So what is the right answer?  I discuss that in this episode, breaking open both sides of this controversial topic and see what the best approach is.

Episode 32 – Not About the Solution

In our world and societies, we have a tendency to focus on the solution, the end result, the goal.  Businesses look at their finances and where it will take them, in employment managers look at “where do you want to be in x years”, and in our own medical struggles, we look at what the end result will be.  It doesn’t seem to matter how we get there, as long as we get to where we want to go.  But is that what it’s all about?  In this episode, I look at why I believe it is not all about the solution.

Episode 30 – Depression, My Only Friend

Hand in hand with depression comes loneliness.  Whether real or imaginary, we can feel as though we are completely alone.  In those moments, it can feel as though depression is our only friend.  Join me as I discuss how that can seem to me.

Episode 29 – Depression the Emptiness

*Trigger Warning – This episode deals with self-harm.*

A lot of people would associate depression with sadness.  For me, that isn’t the case.  Depression tends to lean more towards the emptiness.  A numbness.  A Harrowing Void that I can’t shake, no matter how hard I try.  That’s what depression typically means for me, but there’s more to it.  Why not join me and find out?

Episode 28 – Depression the Darkness

Typically, people might think of darkness when they think of depression.  Most images associated with depression or depression quotes will be black-and-white images, won’t they?  With dark, “depressing” quotes.  Yet to a lot of us who go through it, depression can be perceived as darkness.  Almost like a tunnel without that light.  Join me for my next take on what depression means to me: darkness!
