About Cheryl Henbrey

Hi, I’m Cheryl Henbrey and I want to thank you for visiting Pushing back the Shadows. As both the editor of the blog, and as a friend to Alex, I’m passionate about getting more information and support out there for sufferers of depression and anxiety, and for their friends and family.

I’m a 39-year-old working mum, with a degree in English Language and a second degree in English Literature. In what spare time I have I enjoy singing, drawing, painting and reading. Reading pretty much anything; crime fiction, fantasy, sci-fi, the classics, even the occasional teenage vampire novel.  I also dabble in proof-reading, which has in turn led me into my becoming editor here.

One reason I jumped at the chance to edit Pushing back the Shadows was I have experience of both suffering with depression myself and struggling to support loved ones going through it.  It can be a difficult journey at times, but that’s where we’re trying to help.

On here you’ll find useful links, interviews with other sufferers and plenty of support for friends and family. We’d also love to hear your stories too.  Visit our Contact Us page to find loads of ways to get in touch.

Editor’s Corner

Each week I’ll be providing links to my top picks from the blog and the interviews with a little of my own insights in the Editor’s Corner. Feel free to have an explore, you never know where it might take you.
