About Alex Davies

Thank you for visiting my blog.  Let me tell you a little bit about me and what I aim to do.

My name is Alex Davies and I’m the creator and administrator for the site Pushing Back the Shadows.  You can read more about me and my journey on the Pushing Back the Shadows site and you can read more about the site as well.  Let me give you a snippet of who I am and what I do though.

Who Am I?

I’m a 26-year-old Brit living in England.  I’m an author, a blogger and a musician currently trying to take up blogging as a full-time job.  Hobbies and interests include writing fantasy fiction novels (stay tuned – I intend to publish them one day!) and reading Sci-Fi or Fantasy books.  I also sing and play a variety of instruments and have also written a couple of songs that I perform on the odd occasion.

My Blog

As you may have seen, this blog relates around depression and anxiety and people who support those with depression.  As someone who suffers with depression, anxiety and insomnia, I wanted to offer encouragement to those going through it as well as advice and help to those who support sufferers of these conditions.  It’s based entirely upon my own experiences – I have no medical qualifications or expertise in this area.

Since my diagnosis and the dark times before and after it, many people have tried to support me, whether with words of encouragement or in practical ways.  The vast majority of them have told me, however, that they really have no idea what to do to help me.  I think it’s time to change that.  There are so many blogs and online forums about depression but nothing that really gives advice to friends and family members, so that’s what I’m going to do.  By blogging my experiences and things that I’ve found that have helped or continue to help me, I hope to break the topic wide open so that others might find the support I get.

Within the blog you will find encouragement, suggestions and support.  All of these are from my own experiences but hopefully they will prove useful.  Explore, have a look around, you never know what you might find.

Pushing Back the Shadows on Twitter

If you’re active on Twitter then I’d love to connect with you there via my account @alexdaviespbts, if you haven’t already.  On there you’ll get snapshots of my work and my life.  Mostly I’ll share snippets of what posts I’m working on and I’ll post pictures with quotes that mean a lot to me.  You’ll also get notifications of when my latest posts are published on here.

Read My Story

This is only scratching the surface of who I am, really.  Explore the site and discover more about me, my top tips for helping people struggling as I am or simple words of encouragement that might help you in your struggle.  Read my journey or look through my top tips for friends and family.  Better yet, drop me a message with your story.  I’d love to hear from you, to hear how your story overlaps or differs from mine.  No one’s stories are the same and together we can learn from each other.
